WHAT IS NICORETTE QUICKMIST MOUTHSPRAY?
Nicorette Quickmist is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) which is used to relieve and prevent withdrawal symptoms and reduce the cravings which occur when you stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke. The spray has a freshmint flavour.
Nicorette Quickmist can be used to completely replace all your cigarettes.
It may also be used in other ways:
- If you are unable to quit completely, it can replace certain cigarettes and therefore help cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke.
- If you don’t want to smoke and avoid harm to others, for example children and family
- If you are in a smoke free area for example – pub, at work, public transport
When you use Nicorette Quickmist, nicotine passes rapidly into your body through the lining of your mouth. This provides relief from the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and stop the cravings but will not give you a ‘buzz’ like normal cigarettes.
The benefits of stopping smoking outweigh the potential risk of using nicotine from NRT. This is because it is the toxins in cigarette smoke such as tar, lead and cyanide that cause smoking related diseases and death, not nicotine.
NRT can help relieve nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, low mood, anxiety, restlessness and cravings when used in place of cigarettes.
Nicorette Quickmist comes in a plastic bottle of solution held in a dispenser with a mechanical spray pump. Each bottle contains 13.2mls of solution which provides 150 sprays, each of which contains 1mg of nicotine.
HOW TO USE NICORETTE QUICKMIST?
Please read instructions and look at the pictures in the patient information leaflet provided with this treatment to ensure you use this product correctly.
Please ensure you do not spray into the eyes when using Nicorette Quickmist.
For adults and children over 12 years – use enough nicotine spray to control cravings. One or two sprays corresponds to the nicotine from a cigarette. Use one spray first and if your cravings do not disappear within a few minutes, then use a second spray.
If 2 sprays are required to control cravings then future doses may be delivered as 2 consecutive sprays. Do not use more than 2 sprays per dose or 4 sprays per hour or 64 sprays per day.
If you have used more than the recommended dose or smoked whilst using Nicorette Quickmist, you may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, sweating and headaches. If you do get any of these effects, contact a doctor or your nearest A&E department immediately.
