WHAT IS BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS?
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common condition that women may suffer from when the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina changes.
Healthy vaginas contain certain good bacteria which make the environment acidic. BV may occur when there is a decrease in the good bacteria, this could result in growth of other bacteria.
BV symptoms includes unusual vaginal discharge, odour and discomfort.
WHAT ARE BALANCE ACTIV BV TREATMENT PESSARIES?
When pH levels rise over 4.5 in the vagina, it can cause BV.
Signs of BV include discharge, smelly odour and discomfort.
Balance Activ BV treatment pessaries provide relief from the symptoms of BV.
They use lactic acid to restore the vagina’s natural pH and vaginal flora. They also contain glycogen which provides nutrients that encourage the growth of lactobacilli which helps to maintain a healthy balance inside the vagina.
Balance Activ has been shown to be as effective as antibiotics to relieve BV symptoms.
HOW TO USE BALANCE ACTIV BV TREATMENT PESSARIES?
The pessary is most convenient to use at bedtime when you are lying down and in a comfortable position. This helps it stay in place and reduce leakage.
To use Balance Activ vaginal pessaries, wash your hands and remove a single pessary from the foil wrapping.
Sit or lie down with knees bent and legs apart. Gently insert the pessary into the vagina as far as is comfortably possible with your fingers.
Wash hands again. Do not divide the pessary as it is intended for single use.
If you notice a recurrence in symptoms around the time of your period, you can use Balance Activ for a few days before to help maintain your body’s natural balance.
In addition, you can use 1 pessary every third day for 3 months to maintain the natural pH balance of your vagina.
You can also use 1 pessary daily at the end of a course of antibiotics for 4 to 5 days.
