WHAT IS ROBITUSSIN CHESTY COUGH MEDICINE?
Robitussin Chesty Cough medicine helps loosen and thin mucus or phlegm, thus making it easier to cough up.
A chesty cough is productive with thick and sticky mucus or phlegm, which causes a tightness in the chest.
The active ingredient in this medicine called guaifenesin works by loosening the mucus and phlegm and making the cough more productive and less frequent.
HOW TO TAKE ROBITUSSIN CHESTY COUGH MEDICINE?
Adults, elderly and children over 12 years – Take 10mls up to 4 times per day, as required.
Do not exceed the stated dose. No more than 4 doses should be taken in any 24 hours. Do not give to children under 12 years of age.
If cough persists for more than 7 days or if symptoms worsen, then stop using and speak to your doctor.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CAUTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH TAKING ROBITUSSIN CHESTY COUGH MEDICINE?
Do not take this medicine if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients
- You have had a cough for a long time or if you have asthma or suffering from an asthmatic attack
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Robitussin Chesty Cough medicine may interact negatively with some medicines. Therefore, if you are taking other medications regularly, you should always consult your GP, pharmacist or the patient information leaflet to ensure this medicine is suitable for you to use.
This medicine contains sorbitol and maltitol which may not be suitable for those intolerant to some sugars.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SIDE-EFFECTS ROBITUSSIN CHESTY COUGH MEDICINE?
Like all medications, Robitussin Chesty Cough medicine can cause side-effects, although not all patients will experience these.
Stop taking this medicine immediately and consult your doctor if you experience any of the following:
- Allergic reactions such as itchy skin or rashes, difficulty breathing, faster rate, swelling of face or throat.
Other side-effects that may occur include nausea and vomiting.
