WHAT IS ROBITUSSIN DRY COUGH MEDICINE?
Robitussin Dry Cough medicine provides relief from persistent dry, irritating coughs. A dry cough is usually unproductive and has little to no mucus and also produces a tickly or stubborn irritation at the back of the throat.
Robitussin Dry Cough medicine contains dextromethorphan which relieves dry coughs by controlling the cough reflex.
HOW TO TAKE ROBITUSSIN DRY COUGH MEDICINE?
Adults, elderly and children over 12 years – Take 10mls up to 4 times a day as required. Do not exceed the stated dose.
Do not give to children under 12 years.
If your cough persists for more than 7 days or symptoms worsen, please speak to your doctor.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CAUTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH TAKING ROBITUSSIN DRY COUGH?
Do not take this medicine if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or have taken in the last 14 days
- You are taking selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI) or have taken in the last 14 days
Robitussin Dry Cough medicine may interact negatively with some medicines. Therefore, if you are taking other medications regularly, you should always consult your GP, pharmacist or the patient information leaflet to ensure this medicine is suitable for you to use.
This medicine contains amaranth (E123) which may cause allergic reactions. It also contains sorbitol and maltitol which may not be suitable for those intolerant to some sugars.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SIDE-EFFECTS OF ROBITUSSIN DRY COUGH?
Like all medications, Robitussin Dry Cough medicine can cause side-effects, although not all patients will experience these.
Stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor if you experience any of the following:
- Allergic reactions
- Stomach upset
- Dizziness or drowsiness
- Mental confusion
