WHY CHECK FOR THYROID HEALTH?
Thyroid disorders are quite prevalent especially in women.
Symptoms of hypothyroidism include:
- feeling cold and lethargic
- constipation and weight gain
- becoming forgetful or depressed
- menstrual irregularities in women
Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) which is secreted by the pituitary gland regulates and controls the activity of the thyroid gland.
A higher than normal level of TSH in the blood indicates an underactive thyroid. Early diagnosis ensures treatment can commence sooner.
