WHAT IS NICORETTE 15MG INHALATOR?
Nicorette 15mg Inhalator is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) which contains 15mg nicotine.
It is used to relieve and prevent withdrawal symptoms and reduce the cravings that occur when you try to stop smoking or reduce the cigarettes you smoke.
Nicorette Inhalator can be used to completely replace all your cigarettes.
It may also be used in other ways:
- If you are unable to quit completely, it can replace certain cigarettes and therefore help cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke.
- If you don’t want to smoke and avoid harm to others, for example children and family
- If you are in a smoke free area for example – pub, at work, public transport
Nicotine is released from the inhalator when air is drawn through the inhalator. This is then absorbed into your body through the lining of your mouth.
The benefits of stopping smoking outweigh the potential risk of using nicotine from NRT. This is because it is the toxins in cigarette smoke such as tar, lead and cyanide that cause smoking related diseases and death, not nicotine.
NRT can help relieve nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, low mood, anxiety, restlessness and cravings when used in place of cigarettes.
One pack of Nicorette Inhalator contains 1 inhalator and 20 nicotine inhalation cartridges. Each cartridge contains 15mg nicotine and is menthol flavoured.
HOW TO USE NICORETTE INHALATOR?
Follow the instructions in the patient information leaflet provided with this treatment on how to set up the inhalator.
Nicorette Inhalator works best at room temperature and it is best not to use it in the cold.
If using in the cold, you may have to inhale more to get the same amount of nicotine. If using in surroundings where the temperature is over 30°C, you should inhale less to avoid inhaling too much nicotine.
Adults and children over 12 years – use as needed up to a maximum of 6 cartridges per day. The frequency of how you use the cartridges and the length of time it lasts will depend on how many cigarettes you smoked and their strength.
Inhale using the inhalator, either deep or shallow puffs. Each cartridge provides you with about 40 minutes of intense use. This time can be divided as you prefer.
When attempting to quit smoking, advice and support normally improves the success rate. If you have quit smoking and want to stop using the inhalator, then speak to your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
